Congratulations to Clare N, winner of the 18 & over class in this year’s Silsoe Photography Competition with her striking image ‘Into the Storm’

Well done also to 15 year old Henry A, whose photograph ‘Journey’s End: The Rainbow Bridge’ took first place in the 17 & under category.

In the 18 & over category, Mike O came 2nd with his image ‘The Start of a Journey – Hopefully’ and Elizabeth T came 3rd with ‘It’s Not Where You Go – It’s Who You Go With’

In the 17 & under category, Runners Up were Isla B (age 7) with ‘The Colour Journey of a Leaf’ and Sienna B (Age 10) with ‘Car Journey Through Silsoe’.

In 18 & over, Clare N, Elizabeth T and Mike O also had Highly Commended images and there were Commended images from Jo K,  Ian C, Mike O, Larissa F and Gillian C.

Judges for those categories were Rev Simon and Rev Louise.  But what did you think?  We had over 120 people visit the Photo Exhibition and we asked them to vote for their favourite – The People’s Choice.  Once again Clare N was the winner, but this time with her image ‘Home to Roost’ – which scored 30 points and 6 first places in the vote. The gallery below has all the winning images plus the images which scored highly in the People’s Choice* – click on an image to see the details.

On the Sunday, visitors to the Photography Exhibition were treated to an engaging illustrated talk by Reverend Olivia, who shared her ‘Journey to Silsoe’ – we learnt of her insistence as a young child of baptising her favourite doll, how her 6 week stay with the community on Iona turned into a year which led to her time in New Zealand, before her return to the UK and a place here in Silsoe as our Curate.

We were delighted to welcome over 120 visitors to this year’s Exhibition where we had 61 entries on display. We hope to see many new faces entering next year, especially those who honed their skills at the Phone Camera Workshops on the Saturday!

A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who entered the Competition, attended the Exhibition, or supported in any way. Together, we raised just over £500, which is expected to cover the cost of heating Silsoe Church during services for the next two or three months, making a real difference as the colder weather approaches.

We look forward to seeing what creative masterpieces you capture next year!

* How we scored the People’s Choice – 3 points for a first place, 2 for second and 1 for third.
