Bed and Breakfast to Bethlehem – some postcards from the journey!
Starting on Advent Sunday 2025, small, knitted versions of Mary and Joseph, together with their donkey, travelled around different households in the communities of Silsoe, Flitton, Pulloxhill and Wardhedges, staying for one night. The family ended up at our local churches for the Crib service. It is a way of remembering the journey that Mary and Joseph made to Bethlehem 2,00 years ago.
Some quotes from people who took part:
“We loved hosting Mary and Joseph!
The children had fun making a bed for them and “feeding” the sheep!
The beautiful storybook and info was lovely. Thank you for reminding us what Christmas is all about.”
“I think this may be our new favourite tradition”
“We had such a lovely evening hosting, reading the story and saying a special Christmas prayer with the Advent candle lit”
“My son made them a nice bed of straw”
“Mary and Joseph tucked up for the night in the stable, with the sheep and the donkey outside. Thank you for helping us pause”
Here are some pictures from their overnight stops.
